LIV GOLF
How do we take the sport of golf and turn it on its head? Re-invigorate it? Make it electric? These are the questions that LIV Golf has asked since its founding, and questions I got the chance to help solve. Working alongside LIV since its inaugural season in 2022 as Lead Scoreboard producer has been one of my favorite projects to date. While we work within a design system that they have created; colors, logos, textures, etc. I have had the opportunity to use their elements to further bridge the gap between data legibility and fan engagement.
We provided LED boards to all of LIV’s season events that contained a varied amount of data from Drive Distance, Hitting for, Round highlights and much more. Our number one priority was keeping attendees connected to the game, following their favorite players and future champions.
We would sort our data screens into several categories, such as; Single Player Stats, Group Stats, Team Takeovers, etc. Each category would have a shell created that could have any team or player element easily dropped in creating a unique and consistent visual style. For example, the drive distance graphic would all have a headshot on the left at the same dimensions, a team specific patterned background and data in the right container that would pull from the teams primary and secondary colors. The difference of two teams using the same template can be seen below.

The heavy focus on the colors and the patterns is what gives LIV Golf its unique, exciting quality. We wanted to match the flashy energy they set out to create. Large bold text was used in titling graphics to be loud, not quiet. Team aspects were overloaded on each screen to give the feeling you’re at a big name sporting event, rooting for YOUR team.
